Aaditya Thackeray CBI FIR Disha Salian case Disha Salian death probe Donald Trump Maharashtra politics Satish Salian Sushant Singh Rajput Uddhav Thackeray

Why Not Name Trump Too? Uddhav On Disha Salian Probe

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray has criticised the ongoing investigation into the death of Disha Salian, questioning the inclusion of his son Aaditya Thackeray's name in the case. Speaking to reporters in Sambhajinagar, Uddhav Thackeray alleged that the matter was being driven by political motives and said neither he nor his son had any connection with Salian's death.

Taking a pointed swipe at the controversy, Thackeray asked why the names of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump should not also be brought into the case if people with no connection to the incident could be dragged into the investigation.

Uddhav Thackeray Questions Probe

Uddhav Thackeray said investigators should conduct their probe but should not engage in what he described as character assassination. He also indicated that legal action could follow if allegations against him or his son continued without evidence.

The former Maharashtra chief minister maintained that he and Aaditya had no connection with Disha Salian. His comments came after the Central Bureau of Investigation registered an FIR following a Bombay High Court direction concerning a fresh investigation into Salian's death.

The political dispute comes amid renewed scrutiny of the circumstances surrounding Salian's death in June 2020 and its subsequent connection in public discourse with the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

What Happened In The Disha Salian Case?

Disha Salian, who had worked as a celebrity manager, died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a high-rise building in Mumbai. Police initially registered an Accidental Death Report in connection with the incident. Sushant Singh Rajput died six days later.

Salian's father, Satish Salian, later approached the Bombay High Court seeking a fresh investigation into his daughter's death. Following the court's direction, the CBI registered a fresh FIR in September 2026. The FIR contains allegations involving serious offences, including murder, gang rape, criminal conspiracy, destruction of evidence and providing false information. The allegations remain subject to investigation.

Aaditya Thackeray Denies Connection

Aaditya Thackeray has rejected allegations linking him to Disha Salian's death. In a social-media statement, he said he had never met or known Salian and described attempts to connect him with the case as an evidence-free campaign aimed at damaging his reputation.

The ongoing investigation has also brought other prominent names into public discussion. However, allegations or references in an FIR should not be treated as proof of guilt, and the investigation is still ongoing.

₹500 Crore Legal Notice Adds To Controversy

The controversy escalated further after Satish Salian issued a legal notice seeking ₹500 crore in damages from Aaditya Thackeray and former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh.

According to reports, the notice alleges that remarks by the two leaders portrayed Satish Salian's efforts to seek a fresh investigation as politically motivated. The notice also seeks public apologies and retractions.

The legal dispute is separate from the criminal investigation and does not establish the truth of the underlying allegations. The CBI investigation remains underway.
